Measure his chest right behind the front legs, and his back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. M fits a 24 to 29 inch chest, L 27 to 34, and XL 32 to 39. Between two sizes? Go one up. The size guide further down shows which breeds usually wear which.
The harness in two parts: a front part with a handle that goes around his chest, and a rear part with a handle that goes around his hips. Plus the lift strap that clips to both.
Both parts are padded where they touch him. Snug, not tight: you should fit two fingers under every strap.

Towel under his belly, you bent over double, him sliding out the side. It works for a while. Then your back starts to complain, and the stairs turn into a two-person job.

This one holds him at the chest and the hips, so his weight spreads over his whole body instead of one strip of towel. A handle on each part, and a strap that clips to both for the car. You steady him. He still does the walking.
What's in the box
Old dogs don't go weak all at once. Some days it's the back legs. Some days it's everything. So you get three ways to hold him.

A padded front part around his chest and a rear part around his hips, so the lift spreads over his whole body instead of hanging off his belly.
Sizes M, L and XL
One at his chest, one at his hips. Grab the back one when his back legs give out. Both for the stairs.
Padded grips
Clip it to the front and the back, and lift all of him with one hand. For the car, the bed, and the bad days.
Comes off when you don't need itOn good days the rear part clips off, and the front works as an everyday harness. He can pee and poop with it on, too.

How to measure (1 minute, soft tape)
Chest over 39 inches, or more than 27 inches from neck to tail? That's most Great Danes, Mastiffs, Newfoundlands and big Bernese, and this harness won't fit them. We'd rather tell you now than have you send it back.
How it works
Around his chest, right behind the front legs, and along his back from neck to tail. M fits a 24 to 29 inch chest, L 27 to 34, XL 32 to 39.
Put the front part on, then the rear part, and pull the straps until it sits snug. Only the first time takes a few minutes.
Hold the handles and take a little of his weight on the way up. Small lifts. He sets the pace.

Yes. The straps around his back legs sit clear of both, and it works for boys too.
No, and we'd rather he didn't. It's for walks, stairs, the car, and getting up. Take it off when he's resting, in his crate, or on his own.
Yes. Use the back handle and you're holding his hips up while his front legs do the rest. On days when his front end is weak too, use both handles, or clip on the lift strap.
The first time takes a few minutes, because you're setting the straps to his shape. After that they stay put.
It ships straight from our supplier with tracking, so it's slower than Amazon. Most orders arrive in 7 to 14 days. We'd rather you know that up front.
It's made for dogs getting back on their feet after surgery too. Ask your vet when he's allowed to walk again, then use the handles to take weight off the leg that's healing.
You get your money back. The guarantee runs 60 days from the day it arrives, and you don't need a reason. Send us one email and we sort it out.
Four steps to a good fit
Don't skip the second one. A loose harness is the one that twists.
Soft tape, four numbers: neck, chest, back and upper thigh. Write them down before you pick a size.
Two fingers under every strap. Too loose and it twists when you lift. Too tight and it rubs.
Clip the straps around his back legs once the rest is set. Check they sit flat, not twisted.
Walks change how things sit. Give the straps another look after the first week.
