When will it get here?

It ships straight from our supplier with tracking, so it's slower than Amazon. Most orders arrive in 7 to 14 days, and you get the tracking link by email as soon as it ships.

Which size do I need?

Measure his chest right behind the front legs, and his back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. M fits a 24 to 29 inch chest, L 27 to 34, and XL 32 to 39. Between two sizes? Go one up. The size guide further down shows which breeds usually wear which.

What's in the box?

The harness in two parts: a front part with a handle that goes around his chest, and a rear part with a handle that goes around his hips. Plus the lift strap that clips to both.

Will it rub him?

Both parts are padded where they touch him. Snug, not tight: you should fit two fingers under every strap.

You've been lifting him with a bath towel, haven't you?

A woman lifts her old yellow Labrador down carpeted stairs with a bath towel under his belly

Towel under his belly, you bent over double, him sliding out the side. It works for a while. Then your back starts to complain, and the stairs turn into a two-person job.

An old yellow Labrador in a black and blue lift harness walks down porch steps while his owner holds the front and back handles

This one holds him at the chest and the hips, so his weight spreads over his whole body instead of one strip of towel. A handle on each part, and a strap that clips to both for the car. You steady him. He still does the walking.

What's in the box

Lift his back end, his front end, or all of him.

Old dogs don't go weak all at once. Some days it's the back legs. Some days it's everything. So you get three ways to hold him.

Comes off when you don't need it

On good days the rear part clips off, and the front works as an everyday harness. He can pee and poop with it on, too.

How to measure (1 minute, soft tape)

  • Back: from the base of his neck, where the collar sits, to the base of his tail.
  • Chest: around the widest part, right behind his front legs. This one decides the size.
  • Between two sizes? Go one size up.

Chest over 39 inches, or more than 27 inches from neck to tail? That's most Great Danes, Mastiffs, Newfoundlands and big Bernese, and this harness won't fit them. We'd rather tell you now than have you send it back.

How it works

Three steps. That's it.

  1. Measure him

Around his chest, right behind the front legs, and along his back from neck to tail. M fits a 24 to 29 inch chest, L 27 to 34, XL 32 to 39.

  2. Fit it once

Put the front part on, then the rear part, and pull the straps until it sits snug. Only the first time takes a few minutes.

  3. Lift with him

Hold the handles and take a little of his weight on the way up. Small lifts. He sets the pace.

The bits you're wondering about

Which size do I need?

Measure his chest right behind the front legs, and his back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. M fits a 24 to 29 inch chest, L 27 to 34, and XL 32 to 39. Between two sizes, go up one. If his chest is over 39 inches, this one won't fit him.

Can he pee and poop with it on?

Yes. The straps around his back legs sit clear of both, and it works for boys too.

Can he wear it all day?

No, and we'd rather he didn't. It's for walks, stairs, the car, and getting up. Take it off when he's resting, in his crate, or on his own.

It's only his back legs. Does this still help?

Yes. Use the back handle and you're holding his hips up while his front legs do the rest. On days when his front end is weak too, use both handles, or clip on the lift strap.

Is it hard to put on?

The first time takes a few minutes, because you're setting the straps to his shape. After that they stay put.

How long does shipping take?

It ships straight from our supplier with tracking, so it's slower than Amazon. Most orders arrive in 7 to 14 days. We'd rather you know that up front.

Can he use it after surgery?

It's made for dogs getting back on their feet after surgery too. Ask your vet when he's allowed to walk again, then use the handles to take weight off the leg that's healing.

What if it doesn't work for us?

You get your money back. The guarantee runs 60 days from the day it arrives, and you don't need a reason. Send us one email and we sort it out.

Four steps to a good fit

Don't skip the second one. A loose harness is the one that twists.

1
Measure him first

Soft tape, four numbers: neck, chest, back and upper thigh. Write them down before you pick a size.

2
Snug, not tight

Two fingers under every strap. Too loose and it twists when you lift. Too tight and it rubs.

3
Leg straps last

Clip the straps around his back legs once the rest is set. Check they sit flat, not twisted.

4
Check it after a week

Walks change how things sit. Give the straps another look after the first week.
